Lab results by fax or PDF. Flagged, and no pet owner left waiting for a call.
Reports from outside labs still arrive by fax, email and PDF. VetFlag reads each one, matches it to the patient, highlights every value outside the lab's own reference range and puts a callback task on the right vet's list until someone marks it done.
Results that already flow into your practice software stay there. This is for everything else: state diagnostic labs, specialty labs, smaller reference labs and referral hospital reports.
Today, someone at your front desk does this every day
Watch the fax tray
Pull lab reports off the fax machine or out of the fax inbox, between phone calls and check-ins.
Find the patient
Work out which pet the report belongs to from a name, an owner's surname and sometimes a smudged accession number.
Scan for high and low
Read down the columns for values outside the range and hand the report to the right vet.
Remember to call
Keep a sticky note or a paper list of owners who are waiting for news, and hope none of them slips.
A missed callback is a worried owner, a recheck that never gets booked and, sometimes, a problem caught late.
With VetFlag
Reports come in the way they do now
Most fax services already email each fax as a PDF: forward those to your clinic's address. Lab emails and portal downloads work the same way.
It reads and flags every value
Test names, results, units and the reference ranges printed on the report. Anything above or below the lab's range is highlighted. The patient is matched by pet name, owner and species.
A callback task, until it is done
Each report becomes a task for the vet who ordered it: review, then call. Normal results get a task too, so every owner hears back. Nothing closes until someone marks it done.
Try it with a sample lab report
Fictional labs, patients and owners. Nothing is read, uploaded or sent.

Two patients named Max match, and the owner's name is cut off at the edge of the fax. No values were filed and no task was assigned. The report waits in your review list with the fax next to the two possible patients, so a person picks the right one.

What VetFlag doesn't do
It does one thing: makes sure every lab report that arrives on paper gets seen, flagged and followed up.
- It does not diagnose, interpret results or suggest treatment: a vet reviews every flag
- It never contacts pet owners on its own; your team makes the call
- It does not replace your practice software or your lab integrations
- It never guesses a patient: an unclear match waits for a person
Pricing
One price for the whole clinic. Free 14-day trial. Prices in US dollars, taxes calculated at checkout.
Per clinic
For one clinic location, however many vets and staff use it.
- Unlimited lab reports
- All vets, technicians and front desk staff
- Fax, email and PDF intake
- Callback list with an owner for every task
- Review list for anything unclear
Questions
Does it replace my IDEXX, Antech or Zoetis integration?
No. Results from labs that are already integrated with your practice software keep arriving there. VetFlag is for the reports that are not: state veterinary diagnostic labs, specialty and university labs, smaller reference labs and referral hospitals. You can also forward PDFs from your lab portals if you want one callback list for everything.
Does it diagnose or interpret results?
No. It highlights values that fall outside the reference range printed on the lab's own report and creates a task for a vet to review. A vet decides what a result means and what happens next. It never contacts pet owners itself.
Which reference ranges does it use?
The ones the lab printed on the report, which are usually specific to the species and the analyzer. It does not use ranges of its own. If a value has no range printed next to it, it is shown without a flag and the report goes to review.
How do faxes get in?
Most clinics already use a fax service that emails each incoming fax as a PDF. Set it to forward to your clinic's VetFlag address. Lab emails and PDFs downloaded from lab portals can be forwarded the same way.
Which practice software does it work with?
It works alongside any of them, including Cornerstone, AVImark, ezyVet, Covetrus Pulse, Vetspire, Shepherd and Instinct. It does not write into them yet: each report is kept with its flags, ready to upload to the patient record. Tell us which one you use on the waitlist form.
What if it reads something wrong?
Every task shows the original report next to what was read, so a vet always checks the real page. When the patient match or a value is unclear, the report goes to a review list instead of creating a task. It never guesses which pet a report belongs to.
Is pet owner data kept confidential?
Reports are processed only to build your clinic's callback list, are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are not used to train AI models. See our security page for details.
How much does it cost?
$149 per clinic location per month, with unlimited reports and every vet and staff member included. Free 14-day trial.
Which countries do you support?
We start with clinics in the United States, reading US lab report layouts and units. If your clinic is elsewhere, tell us on the waitlist form.
