For solo US electricians, plumbers and HVAC techs

Get paid for the job without becoming the bill collector.

You send the invoice and get on with the next call. DueNudge watches your unpaid invoices in QuickBooks Online and follows up for you: a polite reminder on day 7, a firm one on day 14 and a final notice on day 30. It stops the minute the customer pays.

For one-truck and small-crew electrical, plumbing and HVAC businesses who invoice in QuickBooks Online and have better things to do at night than chase payments. Not an invoicing app and not accounting software: it only does the follow-up.

Today, unpaid invoices just sit there

You send it and move on

The invoice goes out after the job. Then the next emergency call comes in and nobody looks at it again.

The customer forgets too

Most late payers are not refusing. The email got buried, the spouse thought the other one paid, the property manager is waiting for approval.

Nobody wants to be the bad guy

Asking a homeowner you just worked for to pay feels awkward, so you put it off another week.

Weeks turn into months

By the time you chase it, the customer barely remembers the job and the money is harder to get.

For a one-person shop, a few unpaid invoices can be the difference between a good month and a tight one.

With DueNudge

Connect QuickBooks Online once

Reminders go out on schedule

Day 7: a friendly nudge. Day 14: a firm reminder with a pay-by date. Day 30: a final notice with the next step you chose. Each one by email, with a text for the first two, signed with your business name and a pay-online link.

It stops on its own

Paid in full: everything stops. Paid in part: the next reminder asks for the balance. Customer replies: reminders pause and you get a text, so you can answer yourself.

Firm, polite and on the right side of the law

The wording follows the rules that apply when a business collects its own invoices in the United States. This is general information, not legal advice.

  • Reminders always go out in your own business name, with replies coming to you. A business collecting its own bills in its own name is generally not a "debt collector" under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, but using another name can make it one.
  • Some states also cover businesses collecting their own bills from homeowners, such as California's Rosenthal Act and Chapter 392 of the Texas Finance Code. So the messages never threaten anything you will not or cannot do, never pretend to be a lawyer or a collection agency, and never use abusive language.
  • Only the customer on the invoice is contacted. Never neighbors, family or an employer.
  • Late fees appear only if they are already on your invoice in QuickBooks.
  • Texts go only to the mobile number the customer gave you for the job, between 8 am and 8 pm their time, and every text lets them reply STOP.
  • Three reminders over 30 days, never more than one message a week.

What DueNudge doesn't do

It does one thing: makes sure every unpaid invoice gets followed up, on time, every time.

  • It does not create or send your invoices: you keep invoicing the way you do now
  • It is not accounting software and never edits your books
  • It is not a collection agency and never pretends to be one
  • It never adds fees, interest or threats you did not put in yourself
  • It never contacts anyone other than the customer on the invoice

Questions

How do I ask a customer to pay an overdue invoice without being rude?

Start by assuming they forgot: name the invoice number, the job, the amount and the date, include a link to pay, and thank them if they already paid. Get firmer only step by step: a clear pay-by date in the second reminder, then a final notice that says exactly what you will do next. DueNudge sends these three messages for you on day 7, 14 and 30, in your business name.

When should I send payment reminders for an unpaid invoice?

A common schedule for trades is a friendly reminder about a week after the invoice, a firmer one at two weeks, and a final notice at 30 days. Earlier reminders get paid more often, because the customer still remembers the job. In DueNudge you can change the days or count from the due date instead of the invoice date.

What should a final notice before collections say?

The invoice number, the job, the amount still owed, the reminders already sent, a final pay-by date, an offer to set up a payment plan, and the one next step you will really take if it stays unpaid, such as filing in small claims court or handing it to a collection agency. Do not threaten anything you will not or cannot legally do.

Doesn't QuickBooks Online already send invoice reminders?

Yes. QuickBooks Online can email up to three automatic reminders. DueNudge adds the things it does not do: text messages, wording that gets firmer step by step and is ready to use, a pause and a text to you when the customer replies, reminders that ask only for the remaining balance after a partial payment, and a weekly summary of who owes you.

Does it work with Jobber, Housecall Pro or Square?

If your Jobber or Housecall Pro account syncs invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online, DueNudge sees them there and follows them up. Square and other tools are not connected yet: tell us what you use on the waitlist form.

Does it work with Stripe?

Stripe is the next connection after QuickBooks Online. If you invoice through Stripe, tell us on the waitlist form and we will let you know when it is ready.

Will customers know the reminders are automatic?

Reminders are sent in your business name, signed by you, and replies come straight to you. They read like a short note from you, and you can edit every word before the first one goes out.

Is it legal to send a final notice?

Yes, a business can ask its own customers to pay what they owe. The rules are about how: in the United States, don't pretend to be someone else, don't threaten action you won't take, don't harass, don't contact other people about the debt, and don't add fees that are not in your terms. DueNudge's wording is built around these rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can it add a late fee?

Only if the late fee is already on your invoice in QuickBooks Online. DueNudge never adds fees or interest on its own, because charging fees that were not agreed is not allowed in many states.

What happens if a customer disputes the bill?

Any reply pauses the reminders for that invoice and sends you a text, so you can talk to the customer yourself. Reminders only start again if you tell them to.

How much does it cost?

$19 per month for one business, with unlimited invoices, reminders and US text messages. Free 14-day trial, cancel any time.

Which countries do you support?

We start with trade businesses in the United States: US phone numbers, US dates and wording written for US rules. If you work elsewhere, tell us on the waitlist form.

What data do you read, and is it private?

Only open invoices, customer contact details and payments from QuickBooks Online. Your books are never changed. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is not used to train AI models. See our security page for details.
